Whānau Advocacy

Practical, whānau-led navigation support for people dealing with complex systems, difficult circumstances, or decisions that feel overwhelming.

We listen carefully and support whānau to identify their issues, explore available pathways, make informed decisions, and strengthen their ability to self-advocate with confidence, grounded in their own goals, values and rangatiratanga.

Practical Support

We help whānau turn complex situations into clear, manageable next steps.

This may include supporting them to prepare questions, organise information, draft correspondence, plan for meetings, identify appropriate services and referrals and find tools, systems and resources they can continue using independently.

Our approach strengthens confidence, capability and self-advocacy, so whānau are better equipped to navigate future challenges and stay focused on the outcomes they are working toward.

Complaints and Review Support

We support whānau who believe they have been treated unfairly, ignored, discriminated against or harmed by a decision, process or service.

We listen carefully, help organise what happened, identify the key issues, gather relevant information and prepare clear complaints, review requests or correspondence.

Support may include complaints involving government agencies, housing providers, education, health, social services, employers or other organisations.

We do not promise a particular outcome, and we do not provide legal representation. Where legal advice, formal advocacy or specialist support is required, we help whānau identify the appropriate pathway.

Te Tiriti Pathways

We support whānau to understand how Te Tiriti o Waitangi, rights, duties and public decision-making may connect to the issues affecting them.

This may include organising evidence, identifying the correct complaints or review pathway, preparing questions and correspondence, and connecting whānau with appropriate legal, kaupapa Māori or specialist support.

Pombrotho does not promise legal outcomes or replace qualified legal representation.

Our role is to help whānau understand the pathway, hold onto the facts and move forward with informed purpose.
